About Us
Hex’s Pride became a reality in 2000 with the
birth of Hextavius’ Honor on February 18 and thanks to Sultan’s
Pad’s Shirley and Marvin Marcus.
Cats have always been a part of my life--such has
not always been true for my husband (Don). Many significant life events
happened in 1982 for us: our marriage in February, the death of my father in
May, and the birth of Hex in August.
My husband’s life was drastically changed when
this tiny, black, Panther like creature was born. This little black cat stole
our hearts and made us his persons. We gave him the name of Hex—since he
obviously must have performed magic or cast a love spell on us. We shared our
lives together until April 1, 1999, when he suddenly became critically ill and
had to be euthanized. What better way to honor such a special friend and family
member than to develop a cattery and name it for him?
When we went to Florida in June 2000 to pick-up our little furry
bundle of Bombay cat, we were introduced to another unique and loving
quadruped. We discovered that this sable colored, golden eyed, playful and
equally loving cat was a sable Burmese cat. Rayeous—as Sable Burmese cat, became a
member of our family, as well as Bombays Millenium Belle and Knight Skywalker.
Ray is named after my beloved older brother who died of bone cancer in November
2000.
Our Bombay cats’ lineage includes great grandparents from Nikki
Horner’s Shawnee Cattery and from Sultan’s Pad’s 11 the best cat in
CFA’s top 20 and National winner--Grand Champion Moagly.
Sultans’ Pad Champion Hextavious’ Honor and Sultan’s Pad Champion
Millenium Belle blessed us with our first litter of kittens in June 2001. Their
daughter Tajmahal became our first grand champion in September 2002.
We are located in Salisbury, North Carolina. We show and breed both Bombay and Sable Burmese cats.
We accept major credit cards and Pay Pal. Please see
our show cats and family members.
